For outdoor use, we recommend durable and weather-resistant materials like coir or rubber. Coir is excellent for scraping dirt and mud from shoes, while rubber mats are extremely durable, easy to clean, and great for wet weather conditions.
Most of our large washable door mats can be machine washed on a gentle cycle with cold water and a mild detergent. We recommend checking the specific care instructions on the product page or label before washing. For best results, air dry the mat.
A good rule of thumb is to choose a door mat that is at least 80% of the width of your door. For a standard UK front door, a mat that is 60cm x 90cm or larger is usually a good fit. For double doors, you'll want an extra-large mat to ensure it looks proportional.
While you can use an outdoor mat indoors, they are often made from rougher materials designed for scraping, which might not be as comfortable underfoot. Indoor mats are typically softer and more absorbent to trap any remaining moisture and dirt.
